Woodlands Tavern

The Venue

Woodlands Tavern is a rather spacious venue in the Grandview area that hosts a good deal of music that is made to move to. If you were to walk in here on a random night you’ll likely walk into the perpetual rhythms of something jammy and a dense helping of funk. A lot of solid reggae acts blow through here like smoke from the herbs they’re smoking. But, for example, the last time I was in there I saw The Whirlybirds; a group of guys dressed in business suits bringing back the swinging sounds of the 50’s. Whatever the genre, you’ll find both recognizable touring acts and local acts conjuring up particles in the air.

Woodlands has always seemed like a very chill place in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a party. But the crowd is always full of easy going people, and the staff is just as friendly.

The front room is more of a bar with a small stage upon which they host happy hour shows which are typically, as far as I know, free. The bar is huge and beholds a solid craft beer selection. The front area is good place to snag one of the many tables, sit back with some friends and beverages, and listen to music. To the back left a doorway leads to the second area of the bar which is a large open space with a stage in the front corner. This is where it really goes down. You’ll also need a ticket to catch the shows held on this stage. This room also boasts a bar, but a smaller one with a narrower selection of beverages.

Woodlands Tavern prides itself on great original music. Our capacity is 300 people. Any band that wishes to book should be prepared to bring at least 100 people. If 2 bands can bring 50 people, or three bands can bring 33 people, that also works. Out of town bands that cannot draw should try to pair up with a good local band to get on a bill at Woodlands Tavern.

All happy hour shows at Woodlands will start at 6PM and end at 8PM. Bands can load in after 4PM. Shows cannot go past 8:30PM at the latest. Bands will receive $50. Bands may also have a tip bucket.

All headlining bands will be paid 100% of the door, after sound has been deducted. All bands are responsible for paying sound ($100).
